AI MADE: A BUDA Winter Workshop (2023)
Convener: Yiğit Acar
In the past decade, the use of AI in architecture has been rapidly evolving, showcasing great potential for the future, amidst the current excitement surrounding AI-generated images. During a three-day workshop, we explored several recent tools such as spacemaker.ai and Stable Diffusion, putting them to the test to evaluate their capabilities and potentials for architectural design. Additionally, we engaged in discussions about the future implications of these tools.
The workshop welcomed participants with or without prior coding knowledge, although having coding skills proved advantageous. A solid understanding of design methods and architectural modeling tools was deemed necessary. Hence, participants were admitted to the workshop based on a portfolio review.
Taking place in the first days of 2023, the AI Made winter workshop was hosted by BUDA. It brought together 36 participants, ranging from sophomore students to graduates, who formed ten groups to experiment with AI tools. While the focus of the practical sessions revolved around the recent advancements in clip-diffusion models, participants had the opportunity to discuss various tools in the field, exploring their progress and potential implications.
