In 2014, the second-year curriculum of METU underwent revisions to align with changes in the first-year design studios. The newly introduced studio approach aimed to challenge conventional notions of architecture, including program and building practices, and instead proposed an emancipatory design approach that delved into the fundamental elements of architecture. Starting with the tectonic aspects of architecture, students were introduced to the essential elements of architectural form, structure, and measurements. Through abstract studies, students discovered a library of design tools. In the final phase of the design course, the concepts of context and architectural scenario were introduced, encouraging students to generate unconventional architectural solutions that aligned with the scenarios of everyday life.
