Selection from Graduation Projects Directed between 2018-2023
Studio Instructors: Yiğit Acar, Ezgi İşbilen
In my teaching practice, I have been privileged to facilitate a "thesis" format studio that provides students with an exceptional pedagogical opportunity. This studio serves as a platform for students to immerse themselves in complex, multifaceted, and real-world professional experiences. Throughout the semester, we collectively identified and examined numerous deficiencies in urban mobility, infrastructure, and open spaces within our city.
A distinguishing feature of this studio was that each student had the freedom to select their own site and building type, enabling them to take ownership of their projects. With this autonomy, students developed detailed building programs and engaged in the exploration and synthesis of alternative architectural concepts specifically tailored to the urban and site-specific context. A primary focus of our work was centered around addressing the imperative task of creating a sustainable and livable urban fabric.
By guiding students through this studio, I facilitated the development of projects that not only aligned with the demands of the architectural profession but also catered to the future aspirations of each individual student. Through this approach, I fostered a stimulating learning environment that encourages critical thinking, innovative problem-solving, and a deep understanding of the profession's evolving landscape.
