TERRACE | TARAÇA
MULTIPLE FORMS OF COLLECTIVE IMPROVEMENT
The definition of "terraces formed as a result of the revitalization of a stream by digging its bed" found in the geographical dictionary for Taraça is quite inspiring for the design proposal inspired by the presence of İncesu Creek, Abdi İpekçi Park, and Kurtuluş Park, which pass through the project area. The project proposal called TARAÇA aims to revitalize İncesu by making its presence heard to the urban dwellers, even if it is not visible [and eventually bringing it to the surface in later stages]. This connecting space, which is generated in line with the spatial composition of the project that merges Abdi İpekçi Park and Kurtuluş Park at different depths by following the trace of İncesu Creek, also forms the upper cover of Sıhhiye Market.
TARAÇAs exist as part of the routes [Health, Public Open Space and Sports, History, Culture-Art, Market] that we define as part of the multifunctional and multi-actor network of the city. These urban routes integrated with TARAÇA provide multiple interfaces of interaction for the urban dwellers by integrating different functions at different levels.
