SUSTAINABILITY FACTORY
Sustainability is a process that encompasses the past, present, and future. It consists of many different layers such as economy, function, environment, culture, and aesthetics. The sustainability factory is designed considering all these layers, the history of the land, its current state, and its future. The design method is based on a feedback process that considers climate, light, and airflow data. At every step, an environmentally sensitive structure is created taking into account climatic data.
At the core of the proposal lies a spine. This spine divides the structure into two while accommodating service and circulation elements. The cistern located below the proposal collects rainwater to meet the water needs of both the building and the edible park. Cooling air rises, circulating between the spine, facade, and cistern, creating comfortable spaces. The chimney at the end of the spine supports this process. While the chimney enables air circulation, its holes allow birds to inhabit, offering a synanthropic design approach. The fertilizer obtained from birds will be used in the park later.
The sustainability factory has a park that allows both local plant species to grow and local animal species to coexist with humans. This park is important not only for humans but also for designing and conserving flora by focusing on all local species.
